Married Officers' Quarters, Navy Headquarters, Dhaka
Bangladesh's first 12-storey residential accommodation, and a design-build project delivered directly by Concord.
Since 1972, Concord has rebuilt bridges, raised Dhaka's first towers and built the National Martyrs' Memorial in 89 days. Today it builds luxury apartments across Dhaka and Chittagong.
Move across the monument
Concord began its journey in 1972, soon after the independence of Bangladesh, as a small construction company with a team of around 10–15 people under engineer SM Kamaluddin. Bangladesh was a newly independent nation, and the local construction industry was still developing its technical capacity. From the beginning, one principle guided the company: "No compromise with quality." Concord was formally established on pen and paper in 1975.
Its early years set a pattern that would continue throughout the company's history: technically demanding assignments, infrastructure work, disciplined execution, and a willingness to adopt better construction methods when conventional approaches were not enough. In those years the founder sometimes pawned personal belongings to pay workers on time — a habit of keeping promises that became Concord's standard.

As Bangladesh developed, Concord's portfolio expanded across defence, aviation, public institutions, corporate buildings and national landmarks. The work became larger, more complex and increasingly visible across the country.

1979 brought three very different assignments: the low-rise block of Sonargaon Hotel, built in association with Shimizu Construction Co. Ltd., Japan; BSEC Bhaban, the head office of Bangladesh Steel & Engineering Corporation at Karwan Bazar; and Bangladesh Television works, including the channel transmission building, auditorium and relay-station projects.

Designed by Syed Mainul Hossain, the National Monument at Savar became one of the defining projects of Concord's early history. Against a challenging target period of 90 days, Concord completed the project in 89 days — an achievement that reflects a quality seen repeatedly in Concord's work: the ability to take on technically demanding projects under exceptional time constraints. The founder called it an honour greater than any award.

Between 1980 and 1983, a series of major high-rise projects became part of Dhaka's emerging skyline: Bangladesh Shilpa Bank Bhaban, a 20-storey building (1980); Jiban Bima Tower, a 22-storey tower (1983); and Janata Bank Bhaban, the 24-storey head-office building at Motijheel (1985).

Innovation at Concord often grew directly from the needs of a project. When existing materials, systems or construction methods were not enough, the company developed new capabilities — and in several cases created new businesses around them. Scroll to explore.

1990 — Changing how Bangladesh builds
Concord Ready-Mix & Concrete Products Ltd. was established on 29 July 1990. Concord introduced Ready-Mix Concrete and Transit Mixers in Bangladesh to improve consistency and quality in concrete production. The business later expanded into automated batching plants and a broad range of concrete products, including hollow blocks, solid blocks, ornamental blocks, pavers, kerbstones, terrazzo tiles, engraved tiles and roof tiles.
Across construction, materials, real estate and entertainment, Concord introduced methods, technologies and development concepts that were new to Bangladesh. These firsts reflect a recurring part of Concord's history: identifying a better way to build, then putting it into practice.
