A history built with Bangladesh.

National Martyrs' Memorial, Savar, built by Concord in 89 days

Concord began its journey in 1972, soon after the independence of Bangladesh, as a small construction company with a team of around 10–15 people. From the beginning, one principle guided the company: “No compromise with quality.”

Over the decades, that principle became the foundation of a much larger story. Engineering challenges created new capabilities. Landmark projects became part of the national landscape. New technologies changed the way buildings were constructed. And one company steadily grew into a diversified group spanning construction, real estate, building products, architecture, interiors, garments, entertainment and more.

Through every phase of that journey, one idea remained constant: The Relentless Pursuit of Quality.

01 Where the journey began

1972 — From a small team to an enduring institution

Concord was established in 1972 as a small proprietorship company. Bangladesh was a newly independent nation, and the local construction industry was still developing its technical capacity. Concord entered that environment with an ambition to deliver work that could stand beside contemporary international standards.

Its early years established a pattern that would continue throughout the company’s history: technically demanding assignments, infrastructure work, disciplined execution and a willingness to adopt better construction methods when conventional approaches were not enough. The company was formally established on pen and paper in 1975.

02 Building institutions. Building a nation.

1977–1986 — A decade of major national projects

As Bangladesh developed, Concord’s portfolio expanded across defence, aviation, public institutions, corporate buildings and national landmarks. The work became larger, more complex and increasingly visible across the country.

1982 — A national landmark completed in 89 days

The National Monument at Savar became one of the defining projects of Concord’s early history. Against a challenging target period of 90 days, Concord completed the project in 89 days.

The achievement reflected a quality that would appear repeatedly in Concord’s work: the ability to take on technically demanding projects under exceptional time constraints.

03 A history of innovation

Innovation at Concord often grew directly from the needs of a project. When existing materials, systems or construction methods were not enough, the company developed new capabilities — and in several cases created new businesses around them.
